Automation and Precision: How we are redefining Manufacturing Standards

We continuously invest in our manufacturing to offer products and services that are always one step ahead. Production processes are fully automated, because stable processes guarantee compliance with customer parameters. Random inspections, in addition, verify quality. The use of AI to further optimize equipment control is a new focus. Our patented EnRed production process is unique and was already awarded for its sustainability by the DBU (German Federal Environment Foundation) in 2011. With a CO2 reduction of almost 40%, Schomäcker is far ahead of the industry standard.

Production

EnRed Process

Heating

The raw material is inductively heated precisely to the desired temperature. The induction process guarantees optimum surface integrity.

Cutting

Without interrupting the induction heating process, the raw material is cut „on the fly“ to the required length. The homogeneous temperature distribution ensures uniform forming properties for the subsequent forging processes.

Rolling

Rolling is Schomäcker‘s core competence. With special machines developed in-house, the complete spring is manufactured in a single rolling process.

Eye Rolling

Without additional heating, the eye of the component is forged and then calibrated.

Hot Forming

The crank and bend are precisely shaped in the four-axis press.

Hardening process

Only by controlling the temperature during the entire forging process, it is now possible to achieve the desired starting temperature for the martensitic microstructure transformation.

Tempering

In the Schomäcker Jet-Heating process, toughness and strength of the component are balanced for maximum service life.

Machining

Contact surfaces for bushings and axle connections are drilled and milled fully automatically at Schomäcker. This core competence in the machining of highly hardened and tempered components guarantees perfect axle guidance.

Prestressed shot peening

Depending on customer requirements, different residual stress levels are specifically generated in the subsurface material. In the laboratory, the process quality is verified by x-ray diffraction.

Assembly

The fully automatic assembly guarantees consistent joining processes. In particular, the sensitive rubber layers of the bushing must be installed with low tensile stress for a long service life.

Painting

Corrosion protection is guaranteed by the perfect match of the shot peened surface with the chemical properties of the wet paint. The requirements of the commercial vehicle industry are 100% met.
